Decided to use this pedestrian bridge to get to the other side than to risk the interchange ahead. This busy road leads to Electronic City, hence it is a very busy road!

The metro runs above, on the left.

Here comes the vehicles but wait...
everyone stops!

Baby calf manages to get to the other side

Strangely these cows were at this exact spot yesterday too! I call them city dwellers

Today, I braved the road alone again to visit Begur's 9th century historical temple. Located within the Nageshvara temple complex, the 2 old shrines were commissioned by Western Ganga kings, Nitimarga I and II. The other temples in the complex were later additions.

Here's some new things I learnt today :

1. While there are many public toilets in Bangalore, some men cannot afford paid toilet and took to the streets to relieve themselves. Also possibly because despite being a paid toilet, you can still smell the toilet from afar! I walked past one at KR Market yesterday and lo and behold, I am thankful I made it back to my hotel!
2. There are 2 positions to take a piss in public! Standing and facing a wall or squatting and facing a wall. Do you know the difference?
3. Cows are sacred animals in Bangalore and when they want to cross the road, all traffic stops!
4. Despite heavy traffic, wheelchairs are shown respect on the road. Got wheels can travel

Bangalore (17 - 27 November 2024) : Day 2 - Around Domlur

A few hundred meters away from Ramada Wyndham Hotel, on the Domlur Road which is a 6 lane busy road, a  lady was washing her family's clothes on the walking path. Her tiny home, located behind a few bus stands may not even have a toilet or bath!

This pedestrian bridge proves a useful viaduct to get across the extremely busy Domlur Road. Embassy Golf Links Business Park lies slightly more than 1 km away from Ramada

Directly next to Ramada is a nursery. The little booth by the nursery sells Paan, a desert made out of betel leaf and nut.

Paid public toilets below the Domlur Flyover

Turning left at the junction below the flyover and joining Kempegowda Service Road, there are more paid toilets and bath

1st Main Road

Hoping to get a simcard from Airtel, the person in charge had gone out. A few men outside the shop told me to return later, hence I decided to get a drink nearby...

But it was another fail. When I returned 1 hour later, the office remain partially closed!

Sri Krishna Cafe had a good following so I decided to go in for some tea. Ended up having a mini thali set. Looks simple but it was delicious. IDR78 for meal and tea...that's about RM4.20!

The tea is brewed in pure cow's milk. They literally kept a pot of chai boiling in a small flame all the time. Sieved out the tea leaves and masala, then pour it in a cup for you!

Shops along 7th Cross Road

14th Cross Road which runs parallel to Domlur Road is a quiet and clean sanctuary

The street is so clean

Clean homes

Gorgeous plants

Back on Domlur Road, the lady has finished her washing. Her clothes are hung along the line next to the bus stops!

Bullock cart is still in use! Driver stopped the cart for me so I could capture a nice shot.

Lalbagh Botanical Gardens

Lalbagh Botanical Gardens, bicycles are strictly not allowed

The sides of the road has been dug up and covered again. It was very dusty

Lots of trees lined the roads near the city

Municipal council at work

While "someone" had to go to work, I took off to the streets with Peanut.

Here's what I discovered about Bangalore :
1. While many parts of India are currently suffering from smog, Bangalore is smog and haze free. Possibly because they plant a lot of trees
2. They like to dig up roads!
3. Many sights disallowed bicycles but you can smile and ask nicely for the security to look after your bike
4. Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace was free to visit ONLY today because of some occasion. That saved me INR200. Lucky me!
5. There are many cows in the city center!
6. Bullock cart is still in use !
