Unlike most other airports, Kochi airport only allows a one way entry for all passengers with valid tickets. Non ticket holders are not allowed to enter. Once inside the check in area, passengers are NOT allowed to exit UNLESS escorted by their airline personnel AND with security permits. Only Burger King was operating, offering chicken and mutton burgers as cows are sacred in Hinduism. Passport controls are after the check in area with another set of security control.
