Thrilled with a fireplace. The owner thoughtfully came to lit a fire for us to warm up the villa before our arrival. It was very cold that night and VT added a lot of logs to keep us warm. Everytime he opened the furnace door to add wood, the whole villa was filled with smoke so much so Claudine thought they could have died from carbon monoxide poisioning! |

We were supposed to ride the Parenzana Trails from Grozjnan to Motovun, a 30 km route out of which involves 15 km of gravel and dirt. This trail would have taken us through 6 rail tunnels and 4 viaducts. As the day arrives, we changed our plans to road riding as more and more team members pulled out of riding but instead opted to bus / van / train to the next destinations due to the toughness of the terrain. Seeing 6-11% slopes everyday can be very demotivating what more when faced with gravel trails with gravels the size of ping pong balls.
But on the morning of the ride, we woke up to a wet day. Initially, we tried sitting out the rain but by 12 pm, we knew it was here ro Stay and decided to arrange van transfer to Motovun. Hence, Motovun was easily conquered...without a pedal push
