Touring CSI (6 April - 23 April 2023), Day 9 - Motovun to Rovinj

At Motovun, all ready to ride to Rovinj with a planned pitstop at Porec. 

Morning in Motovun as we checked out from our hotels and proceed to meet up point.

Strangely that morning, we spotted many flat white worms the length of chopsticks by the edge of the road. They looked similar to intestines!

Dinner for some of the gang who did not cook

 Motovun to Rovinj via Porec....fail!!!

It wasn't our day. 5 km into our ride, Mindy had a tyre puncture as we were midway up a steep 6% climb. This delayed us by a whole 40 minutes. Another 5 km later, it started to drizzle.

Initially, we tried to ignore this but soon it became heavy enough to call for rain gears. Even though I was wearing rain jackets and pants, I did not have waterproof gloves. This soon got soaking wet.

Luckily, we reached Visnjan shortly and was only out in the elements for 30 minutes maximum. Again, we tried to sit out the rain at a cafe but after 30 minutes, decided to continue our ride. That's when it started pouring!

A call was made for an early lunch, hoping for the weather to clear up. But when we arrived at the pizza place and talked to the locals, we found van transfer to Rovinj to be easily available at Euro220 for 8 pax, 2 vans. We jumped at this opportunity to stay dry and hence Porec was aborted.

No regrets as it rained the whole day. Moreover, we still had another 40 km to go and the terrain was extremely hilly.
