A wedding and a cycling trip in Perth, Australia (17 to 22 October 2019) : Day 1 - Arrival in Perth

On the Causeway Link bus
A long walk to Jewel for nothing!
Contacting LTF Chief with proof of arrival

After a relatively long day, VT and Claudine finally arrived at LTF Headquarters. At 9 pm, the house was illuminated by warm lights with a tell tale sign of a coffee mug left on the table. However, Satomi who was to meet and show them to their rooms was no where in sight.

Following many unanswered phone calls and snooping around the house, Yow decided to drive them to the nearby Hungry Jack for a take out.

Returning to the house later, they were relieved to find Satomi, back from visiting a friend. She showed them to their rooms and even offered towels should they need them.

It was quickly established that Satomi actually lives and helps out with the house keeping of the place and not a friend who holds the keys to the place. They also learnt that she is a widow and former owner of a Japanese restaurant in Perth. When her late husband died of cancer, Satomi had to sell the restaurant but was rehired as a chef there.

Finishing their "expensive" dinner (due to the currency exchange), they went to Alvin's garage to sort out their bikes. A quick wipe down and pump of air before taking turns to shower and wind down in bed.

Reminiscing the day's event, Ryan had ferried both of them to JB's CIQ to catch the Transtar bus which goes directly to Changi Airport. Unfortunately, their master plan to catch the 9.15 am bus was cancelled despite the printed schedule and the next one was an hour later. Shaken and not trusting the bus' reliability, they have then decided to take the causeway link bus to Singapore's Queen Street. There on, a 5 minute walk to Bugis MRT for a train to Changi Airport; all thanks to the friendly Causeway Link's staff who had assisted them. He had even taken the extra mile by breaking down their big notes into smaller denomination for the bus fare.

Unintentionally, both of them hit ten thousand steps that day, some by necessity, some frivolous. The walk to The Jewel to catch the largest "washing machine" in action was not to be. There were no laundries to be done that afternoon!

A cosy room to call home!
