A quintessential tradition in Chinese weddings, Mary and Yu Jin decided to embrace the Chinese tea ceremony as a show of respect to their elders, one day after the nuptials. As the tea ceremony was planned for the afternoon, VT and Claudine decided to fill their morning with a short ride to Kings Park.

By Day 4, they were getting more and more familiar with the routes around Karawara. Following Kardan Circuit for a short distance, they cut through Kwel Court Playground on footpaths that led them through the backyard fences of homes. Emerging on Jackson Rd, they connected with Kent St which was flanked by Curtin University on one side and Collier's Golf and Country Club on the other side.

At the major roundabout, they left Kent St, taking on Hayman Rd and Douglas Avenue. Before long, they reached, St James Mitchell Park which offers a spectacular view of Swan River. Following Mill Point Rd, they arrived at The Old Mill, a structure dating back to colonial times. Built in 1835, the wind powered mill was used to grind flour for the settlers.

Crossing Swan River on Narrows Bridge, they arrived at David Carr Memorial Park. The families of ducks, natives to South East Scenic Lake were thriving though Claudine could not pin point any of the grown ducklings she had met from her last visit in 2016!

Going under Mitchell Freeway, they followed the bike path that ran parallel to Mounts Bay Road. This led them to Springs St which offers an alternative route, traversing Mitchell Highway via the pedestrian bridge on Mount Street. Instead they took on St George's Terrace and Malcolm Street with 6 % climbs!

At Kings Park, they followed Frasers Avenue which led them to Kaarta Gar-up look out, offering spectacular views of Perth and its bay.  After that, they left on Route 200 taking on Marlee Pavillion, Vietnam Memorial and Ivey Watson Playground. Once in a while, they detoured from the main route taking on Zamia Path and Prionotes Path which is free from auto traffic and runs through nature reserves.

It was time to return and get ready for the tea ceremony. This time, they went via Perth's CBD, taking on St George's Terrace and Hay St. It was good to pass by some familiar sights like London Court and Perth Mint. Stopping for lunch at Newroz Kebab at Carlton Center, they then returned to South Perth via Heirisson Island, crossing Swan River twice.

In the afternoon, Uncle Hong Kum and Auntie Poh Choo came over to LTF Headquarters to pick them up. Again, VT became the designated driver taking the foursome to Bateman.

That evening, they were invited to Winston's house for coffee. Mary, his spouse had just been elected councillor for Mill Point Ward, city of South Perth a day before. We were all ecstatic over her win! When she excused herself over dinner, everyone truly understood as it had been a tiring week for her, campaigning for the elections. Moreover, the boys could not be left at home without a babysitter. Adjourning to a Japanese dinner, we had a good time catching up though Winston who decided to buy us dinner had his order missed out! He had to wait a good hour before he was finally served!!!
